I replaced my original EcoFlow Glacier, which had the built-in ice maker, with this unit, and I am extremely pleased with it.
Since receiving it, I've been running several real-world tests using it exactly the way I plan to while camping, even though I'm currently testing it at home. I initially tested it with the smaller compartment as the freezer and the larger compartment as the refrigerator. I then reversed the configuration, using the large left compartment as the freezer and the smaller right compartment as the refrigerator. That has become my preferred setup because I prepare and freeze a lot of meals ahead of time so I don't have to cook every day while traveling.
I currently have the freezer set at -2°F and the refrigerator at 39°F. It maintains its temperatures extremely well, even when I'm going in and out of it for three to five minutes at a time, and sometimes longer.
I've also been very impressed with its power consumption. Using a 2k+ power station, I got approximately 80 hours of operation before the power station was depleted, with no solar or other source recharging it. I'm currently testing the same large-freezer/small-refrigerator configuration with a 3k power station. At the five-day mark, the power station still had 12% of its original charge remaining, again with no solar or other source recharging it.
I also ran one test using the ICECO battery and got more than nine hours, but I went to sleep before the battery was completely depleted, so I don't know the actual runtime. I plan to repeat that test using my current large-freezer/small-refrigerator configuration.
For comparison, my previous EcoFlow Glacier batteries were advertised for up to 40 hours in Eco mode, but in my own testing I was lucky to get about eight hours from each battery. The APL35 and my current power setup have been far superior for the way I actually camp.
My only initial concern about switching to the APL35 was its smaller overall capacity. My EcoFlow had a larger refrigerator compartment and a freezer compartment that was about 3 liters larger. However, I've learned how to pack the APL35 efficiently. I recently discovered that, between the food I can carry in the APL35 and my dry pantry supplies, I can carry close to a month's worth of breakfasts and dinners.
And dropping roughly 20 pounds from the refrigerator I have to lift and move is a very welcome bonus.
So yes, I am very, very pleased with the APL35. It has exceeded my expectations, and I feel confident using it as my primary refrigerator/freezer when I begin traveling and camping full-time.
